ITALY, Lucania, Metapontum, (c.335-330 B.C.), silver stater or didrachm, (7.82 grams), obv. bearded Corinthian helmeted head of Leukippos to right, behind dog seated to left paw raised, trace of monogram under chin, rev. ear of corn, to left META, to right bird with open wings, A[MI] below, (cf.S.415, Johnston [NN&M 164] Class B, 3.2, SNG Oxford 737). Very fine and scarce.
