EDWARD THE CONFESSOR, (1042-1066), silver penny, pointed helmet type, Hastings mint, issued 1053-1056, obv. bust to right, bearded, wearing pointed helmet, and holding a sceptre, rev. voided short cross, with limbs terminating in crescents, annulet in centre, around +BRID:O:N HESTIEN (Brid of Hastings), (S.1179, North 825, BMC type VII, Br.6). A few weak areas, but a strong support, extremely fine and rare.
