SOLD $150

HULL, I.K. Picards Hull Lead Works penny, 1812, legend both sides, error with name spelt J. R. Prichard (Davis 91) and halfpenny 1812 (Davis 95). The first damaged as always but very rare and a few known, second good extremely fine. (2)

The first from Seaby in 1969, second ex W.G. Wright Collection. The issue of 91 must have been diliberately defaced after the error was discovered and presumably a handful were saved from the melting pot.
