CHINA, Northern Chou Dynasty, (557-580), Emperor Wu Ti (568-578), five elements (metal, wood, water, fire and earth), large coin in seal script, diameter 147mms, weight 695 grams, (Lockett 259). Extremely fine and very rare.

Ex. Owen C. Fleming Collection, F.A.N.S., and Spink Noble Sale 37, (lot 2288) and Noble Numismatics Sale 53, (lot 3074). The idea seems that these coins can purchase anything which is composed of any or all of these elements, that is these coins are universally current.
