ANDRONICUS II AND III, (1325-1334), First joint reign, gold hyperpyron (scyphate), issued c.1324-1328, obv. Andronicus II and III to left and right with Christ standing between crowning both emperors, partial legend around with Andronicos name twice, rev. bust of Virgin within city walls, N to left X to right, (S.2461, Bendall p.108 No.1, and type E, p.135 Num. Circ. June 1961). Small flan, weak in places as usual, otherwise nearly extremely fine and a rare variant.
