SYRIA, Seleucis and Pierra, Laodicea, (1st century B.C., but before 47 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (15.1 grams), issued 71-0 B.C., obv. turreted and veiled bust of Tyche to right bead and reel border, rev. Zeus enthroned to left, holding Nike and sceptre, **[L]AODIKEWN [T]HS IEPAS KAI* to right, **AUTONOMO[U]* to left, to left AI (year 11 = 71-0 B.C.), over **DI* on side, monogram of **PA* below throne, KA in exergue, (S.5874; ANSMN 28, Morkholm No.5 [notes 5 specimens and illustrates Plates 14, 8). Lightly toned, good very fine and scarce.
