SYRIA, Kingdom of, Antiochus VIII, (121-96 B.C.), first reign (121-114/3 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.47 grams), Damascus mint, issued year 195 = 118-7 B.C., obv. diademed head of Antiochus VIII to right, fillet border, rev. Zeus Uranius with crescent above standing to left, holding star and sceptre, on right, **BASILEWS and **ANTIOCOU and to right **EPIFANOUS, to left AB monogram over **DHR monogram, in exergue EqP, (cf.S.7143, LSM [NN&M 84] No.96 [same obverse die], BMC 5). Extremely fine and rare.
