GROUP OF FIVE. General Service Medal 1962 - one bar - Malay Peninsula; Vietnam Medal; National Medal; Officer of the National Order of Merit (France); Vietnamese Campaign Medal. I.C. Watson RAN. Mounted as worn. First two medals impressed. Third and last medals engraved. Very fine.

Together with: newspaper cutting relating to French award; photograph of HMAS Anzac and posting history. Captain Ian Charles Watson was awarded the National Order of Merit in 1992 in recognition of his part in the construction of HMAS SUCCESS. Foreign awards are excessively rare in modern Australian service groups. Recipient served in HMAS Melbourne from 16 November 1964 to 20 August 1971 and HMAS Brisbbane from 27 January 1969 to 20 June 1971.
