SYDNEY HARBOUR GOLD LIFE SAVING MEDAL, in form of a star with scroll loop suspension (13.3 grams) by Evan Jones. Obverse depicts Water Policeman wearing sennett hat diving off the wharf at Chowder Bay (Mosman). Reverse inscribed 'Presented/to Michael Wallace/by/Traffic Employees of Tramways/for bravery in saving life from/drowning at Chowder Bay/Oct 8th 1885'. A charming little medal by the Colonial Sydney jeweller Evan Jones and probably unique, nearly extremely fine. Probably a plate from a presentation cigarette box.
