BIRMINGHAM, Welch's penny, 1799, mounted yeoman/inscription (D&H 28b). Toned with mint red around lettering and devices, proof-like uncirculated and very rare, only 24 struck with this edge (plain).

Purchased from Spink in 1975. Welch was a collector of tokens and it was on his collection that Charles Pye based his book published in 1801.
