STOCKTON & DARLINGTON RAILWAY, centenary 1925, in bronze (76mm) by G.Bayes, manufactured by John Pinches, obv. conjoined draped busts of Edward Pease and George Stephenson l., inscription below, rev. Vulcan l., holding model of engine 'Locomotive No.1', a 'Pacific' class locomotive in background, FIRST IN THE WORLD above. (BHM.4205; Eimer 2001). Extremely fine.

Edward Pease (1767-1858) railway projector, adopted and funded Stephenson's plans for the Stockton & Darlington Railway. Ex. Murray Collection.
