RECOVERY OF GEORGE III, 1789, silver plated medal in copper (Barton's metal), by J.P. Droz, 34mm, (18.4 grams), obv. George III bust to right, rev. altar entwined by snake, with fire, dated 1789, (Eimer 827, BHM 311, DH 181, Fearon 240.2). Extremely fine, very rare in this metal.

Barton's metal was produced by rolling silver onto a copper core. See also J.G. Pollard 'Matthew Boulton and J.P. Droz' Numismatic Chronicle, 1968 pp.261-5 for discussion on this striking.
