SIR THOMAS FAIRFAX, Kt., portrait medallion cast and chased in silver gilt, bust length portrait, foliate border, rev. arms, legend around Sr. THO: FAIRFAX Kt: FOR KING AND PARL.., oval medallion with loop soldered on at the top (30 x 24 mm). Fine/ good fine.

Ex. Spink Australia sale 21 (lot 1364). Sir Thomas Fairfax was a Member of Parliament at the time of the English Civil War (1641-1646). He was appointed a General in the New Model Army and with Cromwell was instrumental in orchestrating the downfall of Charles I's army at Marston Moor (1644) and Naesby (1645).
