(ATHENA FUND II), the property of the Merrill-Lynch Investment Fund, sold by Sotheby's in two auctions held in Zurich from 26-28th October 1993, 1890 lots, every coin illustrated with descriptive text, 14 colour plates, the first part (156 lots) with every coin illustrated, detailed text and most coins in colour, with prices realised list; together with the third and final part, sold in the New York sale December 9-10, 1993, 1068 lots, almost every coin illustrated, 4 colour plates, with prices realised list. Fine and scarce. (3)

These sales rank next to the Hunt sales of the early 1980's in importance and quality of production. The sales includes coins from a number of important hoards, including the Selinus, Larissa and Samaria hoards.
