SEVERUS ALEXANDER, (A.D.222-235), silver denarius, issued 227, Rome mint, (2.4 grams), obv. laureate bust to right, draped and cuirassed, around IMP C M AVR SEV ALEXAND AVG, rev. P M TR P VI COS II P P, Emperor standing to left sacrificing over tripod, holding patera and scroll, (cf.S.2225, RIC 70, C.325). Brilliant extremely fine, a scarce type and rare in this condition.
