COMMODUS, (A.D. 177-192), AE sestertius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 189, (16.1 grams), obv. laureate head of Commodus to right, around M COMMODVS ANTONINVS AVG, rev. around SALVTI AVG TR P [VII] MPI V COS III P P (sic), across field S C, Salus standing to left, feeding snake coiled around altar and holding sceptre, (S.-, cf.RIC 345, cf.C.689). Green patina, an unpublished reverse legend, very fine/fine and very rare.
