AUGUSTUS, (27 B.C. - A.D. 14), plated silver denarius, Rome mint, issued 16 B.C. by C. Antistius Vetus, (2.87 grams), obv. Venus bust draped to right around C ANTISTIVS VETVS III VIR, rev. COS / IMP CAESAR AVGV / XI, in three lines between simpulum to right, lituus to left above, tripod on left and patera on right below, (S.495, RIC 367, C.348, BMC 99). Even dark tone, very fine and rare.
