SASSANIAN KING, Ardashir, I (A.D. 224-240), silver drachm, (3.69 grams), obv. bearded bust to right of king [Parthian type], wearing tiara, centre a star, star on bust at bottom, two dots behind bust, legend around, rev. fire altar, without attendants (Sellwood type II, Plate I, 6; cf.Gobl 6, cf.M.787). Good very fine/extremely fine and a very rare type.
