PALESTINE, Judaea, Second Revolt or Bar Cochba War, (A.D. 132-135), silver denarius or zuz, (3.34 grams), dated, year 2, A.D. 133-4, obv. 'Shim`on' within wreath, border of dots, rev. legend `Year 2 of the Freedom of Israel' jug and palm branch, all within a border of dots, (S.5653; Mildenberg No.33, obv. die 5', rev. die 21 with 52 examples cited for this die combination, Meshorer 167, H.696 [148]). Slightly off centred on obverse and reverse, weak in places with clear evidence of overstriking on a Roman denarius, otherwise extremely fine.
