BACTRIA, Kingdom of, Demetrios I, (205-190 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.37 grams), Merv? mint, obv. diademed and draped bust of Demetrios to right wearing an elephant's scalp and head-dress, rev. young naked Herakles standing facing, crowning himself, and holding club and lion's skin, **BASILEWS DHMHTRIOU*, PA monogram in field to left, (S.7526, M.103d, Bop. Series 1, No.2, Pl.4, monogram D). Porous flan, otherwise good very fine and rare in this condition.
