MESOPOTAMIA, Carrhae, Macrinus (A.D. 217-218), silver tetradrachm, (14.67 grams), issued A.D. 217-218, obv. radiate bust of Macrinus with cuirass and paludamentum, to right seen from behind, around [AYT] K M OP CE MAKRINO[C CE], rev. eagle standing facing, head to right, wreath in beak, to left above star, between legs crescent, in exergue two dots, around **DHMARC EX YPATOC., (Bellinger 168 [ANS Num. Stud. No.3], p.59, plate XIII,3 same dies, cf.S.2973). Extremely fine, small flan, slightly off centred on obverse and less so on the reverse, with some golden mint bloom and rare.
