ATTICA, Athens, (166-57 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.45 grams), issued 181-0 B.C., (Thompson date) but probably 149-8 B.C. (revised chronology), obv. head of Athena Parthenos to right wearing triple-crested Athenian helmet, ornamented with Pegasus, rev. owl standing to right, head facing, in erect posture, on prostrate amphora, to left behind head a palm, legend across **AQE POLU TI* M**DR* as a monogram, all within wreath, (cf.S.2555, Thompson 108a [this coin and illustrated], SNG Von Post 102 [this coin]). Fine and rare.
