MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.7 grams), Babylon mint, issued c.317-311 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, H to left, and MTP monogram in wreath under throne, below **BASILEWS*, to right **ALEXANDRO[U]*, (cf.S.6713, Price 3708, Armenak add.3, BMC 3708 a-d, Muller 713). Has been cleaned, some minor surface roughness, otherwise nearly extremely fine.
