ITALY, Lucanaia, Velia, (c. 305/4-293/290 B.C.), silver stater or didrachm, (6.96 grams), Period VII, obv. crested helmeted head of Athena to right ornamented with wing upon a wreath, **F behind, rev. lion walking to right, **F I above bunch of grapes between, [U]ELHTW[N] in exergue, P below lion, (cf. S.460, Williams 495 [same dies]). With scratches and surface knocks on obverse and reverse, otherwise good fine, a rare die combination.

Williams notes only 9 known specimens from this die combination.
