SEVERUS ALEXANDER, (A.D. 222-235), AE dupondius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 222-231 (10.7 grams), obv. radiate head of Severus Alexander to right, around IMP SEV ALE XANDER AVG, rev. emperor standing to left with sceptre and extended right hand, around RESTITVT O R MON, S C across field, (S.2275 [£125 and type illustrated p.218], RIC 601, C.518, BMC 546F). Flan crack, bronze patination, strong portrait and large flan, nearly very fine and rare.

Ex. Sir Charles Oman collection, Christie's, February 7, 1968 (lot 196 part) and a duplicate from the Boston Museum of Fine Arts with their distinctive ticket.
