AUGUSTUS, (27 B.C. - A.D. 14), silver denarius, Lyons mint, issued c.11-10 B.C. (3.79 grams), obv. laureate head of Augustus to right, around AVGVSTVS DIVI F, rev. IMP XI[I] in exergue, bull butting to right, (cf.S.486, RIC 187a, C.155, BMC 472). Nearly very fine and rare.

Ex. B.A. Seaby, London, March 1989. The bull is merely symbolic of the dominant power of Rome, especially in Gaul.
