EGYPT, Kingdom of, Ptolemy I (323-283 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (15.70 grams), issued 310-305 B.C., obv. head of Alexander to right with horn of Ammon, clad in elephant skin and aegis, dotted border, rev. **ALEXANDPOU on left, Athena Alkidemos to right with spear and shield, monograms **DI* on right WA and dot in circle on left, below lower right an eagle, (cf.S.7750, Sv.141-2, Zervos 58, SNG Cop. 21-2). Light scratches on both sides, with attractive grey and trace of blue cabinet patina, otherwise nearly extremely fine and rare.
