ITALY, Campania, Neapolis (Naples), (c.340-240 B.C.), silver stater or nomos, (6.93 grams), obv. head of nymph to right, Thessalian helmet behind, **ARTEMI, rev. bull walking to right, crowned by Nike flying right above, below monogram of **QE, below exergue [NEOPOLITWN], (cf.S.307, Sambon -, SNG Cop. 416 [same dies], Weber 334 [p.72, Pl.18]). Off centred on the reverse, otherwise nearly very fine and a rare symbol.

This symbol does not occur in Sambon but is noted by Dressel in Berlin , Beschr. III., p.110 (No.38). The helmet type (clear on this specimen) takes the form of a helmet similar to that of Thessalian riders on coins of Pharsalus.
