Bid at live.noble.com.au

ITALY, Campania, Hyria, (c.395-385 B.C.), silver stater or nomos, (7.033 grams), obv. head of Hera Lakinia facing three-quarter to right, wearing broad stephanos, rev. man-headed bull to right, above [YI]DIN[A], single exergue line, (cf.S.294 [£350], Rutter 129 [obv. die 47, rev. die 115]). Reverse slightly off centre, otherwise fine/very good and very rare.

See note above. Only two examples are known from this die combination and both are in the Paris Bib. Nat. Museum collection. This obverse die was also used for the very rare issues of the city of Fensernai, an interesting example of die transference.

All bids are executed on the understanding that the Terms & Conditions of sale have been read and accepted. For information on grading and estimates please refer to the Buying at Auction advice.
