Bid at live.noble.com.au
SOLD $2,000

QUEEN VICTORIA, pattern penny, 1879, by Joseph Moore (A.399). Full mint red, uncirculated and very rare.

Ex. Al Chenet Collection (U.S. Collector previously from Spink & Son Ltd., privately, January 1978), sold Spink Australia Sale 27 (lot 1710) and Sale 30 (lot 1883). This pattern saw little distribution and nearly all present survivors emanate from the group of about forty five purchased by Baldwin at the Shorthouse Sale (Sotheby's 1912). Shorthouse was an avid collector and close friend of Moore's, the manufacturer.

Estimate / sale price does not include buyer's premium (currently 22% including GST) which is added to hammer price. All bids are executed on the understanding that the Terms & Conditions of sale have been read and accepted. For information on grading and estimates please refer to the Buying at Auction advice.
