HENRY II, (1154-1189), silver penny, cross and crosslets (Tealby) coinage, bust A, issued 1170-1180, Chester mint, obverse, trace of ethnic visible, rev. +.[S]TEFN [:ON:..], (Stefn of Hereford or maybe Northhampton), (S.1337, N.952/1, cf.BMC 290 [but with pellets on upper arm). Toned, weak in places, otherwise fine or better and very rare.

Ex Doug Carian, Palmerston North, coin dealer in 1976, with old 19th century ticket.
