SEPTIMIUS SEVERUS, (A.D. 193-211), gold aureus, Rome mint, issued A.D. 194, (6.762 grams), obv. laureate head of Septimius Severus to right, around L SEPT SEV PE RT AVG IMP II, rev. around DIS AVSPICIB TR P II, in exergue COS II PP, Hercules on left holdin club and lion-skin and Bacchus on right, holding to left, oenochoe over panther, (cf.S.1740, RIC 25, C.113). About as struck, good extremely fine and very rare.
