AUGUSTUS, (27 B.C. - A.D. 14), silver denarius, Lyons mint, issued c.9-8 B.C. (3.554 grams), obv. laureate head of Augustus to right, around AVGVSTV[S D]IVI F, rev. C CAES above and [AVGVS F] in exergue, C. Caesar galloping to right, with right hand holding reins, left hand a sword and shield, behind Aquila, between two standards, (S.478, RIC 199, C.40, BMC 500). Porous surface on obverse, otherwise very fine/good fine and very scarce.

Caius was the grandson of Augustus. He adopted him as his son and heir together with his brother Lucius.
