Ronald David Newitt A.I.F. Born Sorrell, Tasmania 17Dec1893. Enl.21Aug1914 R.T.A.31Jan1918. Twice wounded in action. M.C. C.G. 4Oct1917. 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He led his platoon with great gallantry and skill, repelling the enemy, capturing a machine gun and inflicting many losses'.
