SYRIA, Kingdom of, Philip I Philadelphus, (89-83 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (15.908 grams), Antioch mint, obv. diademed head of Philip I to right, fillet border, rev. Zeus seated left on throne, holds Nike with wreath in outstretched hand, all within laurel wreath, on right, **[B]ASILEWS FILIPPOU*, and to left **[E]PIFANOUS [FILA]DELF[OU]*, in left field I, **DI* monogram below throne, (cf.S.7196, Newell SMA 453, BMC 14). Toned, small flan, extremely fine and very rare.

This variety is claimed by Newell to include a **Q* in exergue, but the coin in this lot shows no evidence of this letter in the exergue.
