THRACE, Island of, Thasos, (after 148 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.284 grams), obv. head of young Dionysos to right, wreathed with ivy and band across forehead, rev. Herakles naked standing to left, holding club, lion skin over left arm, to right **[H]RAKLEOUS*, to left **SWTHROS, below **QASIWN, MH monogram to left, (cf.S.1759, SNG Cop. 1040-1045). Slightly bent, uneven tone, otherwise well centred and of good metal, nearly very fine.
