SICILY, Syracuse, (c.485-479 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.216 grams), obv. slow quadriga driven to right by male charioteer, Nike flying right crowning horses, rev. **SU*R**A KO S I O N around to right, head of Artemis-Arethusa to right, diadem of beads, four dolphins around, (cf.S.913, Boehringer 355 same dies [obverse 176/reverse 248 dies], Nanteuil Collection (No.327) = Sangiorgi Martinetti Sale 18.11.1907 (lot743 same dies]). Slight off centred on the reverse as on other examples, otherwise good very fine with excellent metal, toned, and a very rare die combination.

Ex Coin Galleries Auction Sale Feb. 24, 1984 (lot 66). Boehringer notes only 2 specimens from these dies.
