JUSTINIAN I, (527-565), gold solidus, issue of 542-565, Sicily mint, (4.33 grams), obv. helmeted and cuirassed bust facing, holding globe with cross and shield with heavy annular border, around DN IVSTINI ANVS PP AVC, rev. Angel standing facing holding staff surmounted by P, and cross on globe, around VICTORI A AVCCC**D*, in exergue CONOB, star in right field, (S.328D, DOC -, Hahn 'The Monte Judica Hoard' 72-5). Large flan, extremely fine and very rare.
