ATTICA, Athens, (c.500 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.210 grams), obv. crude Archaic style head of Athena to right wearing Attic helmet with faint chevrons and dots, rev. owl standing to right, head facing with broad neck, to left olive spray, to right, **AQE*, all in incuse square, (S.1842 [£1000], cf.Sv. Pl.4, No.1-28 [similar dies], cf.Asyut Hoard 268-310 [Group IV], Seltman Group M, SNG Cop. 19-20). Large flan, slightly off centred, with heat marks on the reverse across the owl and left edge, otherwise nearly very fine and very rare.
