SICILY, Syracuse, (c.474-450 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.042 grams), obv. slow quadriga driven to right by male charioteer, Nike flying left crowning charioteer, in exergue a pistrix (sea-serpent), rev. **SURAKOSI ON around to right, head of Artemis-Arethusa to right, wearing diadem. four dolphins around, (cf.S.925 [£950], Boehringer 574 [same dies obverse 287/reverse 394 dies], Boston 377 [Pl.20 same dies], McClean 2668 [Pl.93 same dies]). Well centred, attractive dark tone, good very fine/very fine and rare.

Ex Collection of M. Silton (USA). Boehringer records seven known examples from these dies most in Museums.
