ITALY, Lucania, Metapontum, (c.330-300 B.C.), silver stater or nomos (7.946 grams), obv. head of Demeter to right, wearing corn wreath and ear-ring, rev. corn ear, META to left, stalk to right with plough and [MAN] to right, (S.416, Noe [NN&M 47, 1984] C.1, SNG ANS 467-480 (similar dies), SNG Munich 1000-1 (similar dies). Attractive dark even tone, flat on corn ear on reverse, otherwise nearly extremely fine/good very fine and scarce.
