SCOTLAND, James II, sixty shillings 1688, restrike by Matthew Young 1828 (S.5634) Nearly FDC and very rare.

The dies were discovered in France as part of the estate of the last decendants of Rottier the engraver. Young acquired the dies and had sixty struck in silver and three in gold then defaced the dies and deposited them in the British Museum. Originals were never struck even though an issue had been authorised.
