ABORIGINAL KING PLATE OR GORGET, c.1900s, inscribed to 'Peter / Chief of / Warangesda / Mission', crescent shaped brass (150 x 220mm), holed at each end for suspension on a chain. Very fine.

This breast plate was taken from Australia by a missionary and donated to a museum in England. After the closing down of the museum it was purchased by an antique dealer and sold to its present owner who returned with it to Australia.
