PHOENICIA, Berytus, Claudius, (A.D.41-54), AE 24, (15.56 g), obv. bare head to left, most of legend around, around TI CLAVD CAESAR AVG GERM IMP, rev. colonist ploughing to right, with yoke of oxen, COL I[VL AVG], (cf.S.477, SNG Cop. 93, BMC 72); Berytus, Gordian III, (A.D. 238-244), AE 29, (19.10 g), obv. laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust to right, rev. facing bust of Astarte between two aquilae, all within tetrastyle temple with sculpture along roofline, (S.-, Sawaya Series 117, BMC 231, SNG Cop.123), (illustrated). Nearly very fine. (2)
