SYRIA, Kingdom of, Alexander II, (128-123 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.268 grams), Damascus mint, issued 124-123 B.C., dated year 189, obv. diademed head of Alexander II to right, fillet border, rev. Zeus seated to left on throne holding Nike and sceptre, on right **[BA]SILEOS to left **ALEXANDROU*, to left monograms of **HDR*, under throne **DP*, in exergue **QPR*, (cf.S.7115 [£200], SNG Israel I (Spaer) 2430, Newell LSM 83). Good very fine and rare.
