SICILY, Syracuse, reign of Hieron II, (275-215 B.C.), AE 27, (18.124 grams), obv. diademed head of Hieron beardless to left, symbol behind, rev. horseman prancing to right, holding spear couched, beneath TI, in exergue traces of IEP**WNOS*, (S.1221, BMC 594). Light patina, nearly very fine and very scarce.

Ex Patrick Cooper Collection with his ticket and previously acquired from Seaby, London in June 1978.
