NERO, (A.D. 54-68), gold aureus, Rome mint, issued A.D. 65-66, (7.342 grams), obv. laureate head of Nero to right, around NERO CAESAR AVGVSTVS, rev. around IVPPITER CVSTOS, Jupiter seated to left holding thunderbolt and sceptre, (S.1930, RIC 52, BMC 67, C.118). Attractive extremely fine and very rare in this condition.

The issue refers probably to Nero's deliverance from the conspiracy of C. Calpurnius Piso in A.D. 65.
