NEW ZEALAND 1950, British Empire Games, Medal of the Winners, bronze (63mm) by M & K Ltd (Mayer & Kean), N.Z., inscribed on reverse, 'Water - Polo'. In case of issue, a few handling marks, toned, otherwise extremely fine.

Although recognised as a sport by the Commonwealth Games Federation, water polo has only featured in the Games once and that was at the 1950 British Empire Games in Auckland, New Zealand. The only participants were Australia and New Zealand with Australia winning all three matches. The Australian team members received Gold medals, New Zealand received Silver medals and Bronze medals were not awarded, hence no recipient's name on above medal.
