GUPTA, Kumaragupta I, (A.D. 414-455), gold stater copy, (8.1 grams), elephant rider-lion slayer type, BMC Class IIa, obv. king nimbate, with long locks, mounted on horse, prancing to right, Bahmi script around, rev. goddess Lakshmi nimbate standing to left, a peacock on left to right looking up at the goddess, Brahmi legend around, (Altekar Bayana hoard, plate XXX, 2, Altaker 'Coinage of Gutpa Empire, Plate XIII, 1). Small dumpy flan copy of rare original very fine.
