THRACE, Island of, Thasos, (c.after 148 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.73 g), obv. head of young Dionysos to right, wreathed with ivy and band across forehead, rev. Herakles naked standing to left, holding club, lion skin over left arm, to right **HRAKLEOUS*, to left **SWTHROS, below **FASIWN, MH monogram to left, (cf.S.1759, BMC 67-78, SNG Cop.1049). Toned, with test mark gash on bottom area of reverse, otherwise very fine.
